EARTH STORIES: BIANCA TEMPLEMAN

BRIEFLY DESCRIBE YOUR BUSINESS.

A faux floral shop with complimentary home accessories that is all based on neutral tones and hues.

WHEN YOU WERE A CHILD, WHAT WAS YOUR DREAM JOB?

To have my own shop. I was obsessed with retail and shopping and interiors. When I started out I did fashion and styling course at college, My tutor at the time said that I had an eye for interiors. My final project included cushions that I had designed alongside a curated interiors display.

IF IT IS DIFFERENT TO WHAT YOU DO TODAY (WHAT MADE YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND?)

Always a dream to have an interior decor or a floristry shop. So i guess this is the dream!

WAS SETTING UP YOUR OWN BUSINESS ALWAYS A GOAL OR PLAN?

I took a gap year after college and got a part time job in GAP. Within 6 months I was promoted to Visual Merchandiser and loved it. I made it my career for sixteen years, but always had a plan to open my own shop.

WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD GIVE TO SOMEONE WHO IS THINKING OF STARTING UP A BUSINESS?

Never give up. And if you have a dream, just go for it and plan. This is something I had planned for 4 years whilst working full time. Always jotting in notebooks and researching.

WHAT IS SOMETHING THAT YOU WISH YOUR FUTURE SELF COULD TELL YOUR PAST SELF?

All the times I wanted to do it even if someone else is doing it, you find what you’re good at and make it your own.

HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE IN WORKING WITH EARTHS’ ATELIER

Amazing. It took my vision to a whole new level and easy to work with. Tayler knew what I was expecting and the end results where exactly how I wanted it to look. It is important to grow together. The new video and design work just elevate my brand.

IS THERE STILL A DREAM PROJECT THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO CREATE OR COLLABORATE ON?

Always so many arrangements and products that I want to release but time flies. Maybe a coffee table book or to have a stand in a department store.

WHAT IS IT LIKE BEING A FEMALE BUSINESS OWNER IN TODAY’S CURRENT INDUSTRY?

I’ve never felt prouder to have kept going in this current climate. Being such a new business opening during COVID, I feel incredibly proud to still be going strong. Hard work pays off.
